He is one of the most interesting emerging artists on the contemporary Spanish scene. Recognised by Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list, his practice explores the expansion of painting into new formats, materials and scales.
From his early days in graffiti, he developed a direct relationship with public space, architecture and monumentality. Today, from his studio in Carabanchel, his work is evolving towards a more mature exploration where painting, installation and textile architecture coexist within a single language.
His creative process stems from a dialogue between the intuitive and the conscious: an initial impulsive and gestural phase, followed by a period of observation and reconstruction in which the work finds its balance.
Through canvases, textiles and site-specific structures, Piro enables painting to transcend the two-dimensional plane and transform space, light and the viewer’s perception. Colour, understood as a physical and emotional experience, runs through all her work. Rather than conveying a specific idea, her pieces seek to evoke a sensation: calm amidst complexity, playfulness amidst chaos, and beauty within the gesture. In OBERTURA, Piro aims for the viewer to feel part of the work, as if they were on a theatre stage and could blend in with the set around them.
